Brand-new personal computing Web site wins Canuck Site of the Day award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Toronto - November 12, 1996
Viewz (www.viewz.com), a World Wide Web site geared to personal computer users garnered the coveted Canuck Site of the Day (CSOD) award today, less than a week after its official launch. CSOD, in bestowing the award described the site as "a beautiful site with tons of good reviews!"
Personal computer users can search for the latest CD-ROM titles and read interviews with the people who create them, as they tour through Viewz, a dynamic WWW magazine for recreational computing enthusiasts.
Directed toward mainstream adults and youth, Viewz is not about computers and whose is the fastest. It is about the things you can do with a computer and the people who make it happen. For instance, SoftViewz contains more than 1,900 CD-ROM titles that can be selected according to age and interest and encourages visitors to do their own software reviews.
Cafe Z presents a behind-the-scenes look at the personalities who create CD-ROMs. Currently running is an interview with David Macaulay, author and illustrator of "The Way Things Work". Additional segments coming soon are WebGUIDE and TechGUIDE, which will provide helpful Web hints and site reviews, as well as directions for finding online technical help for home computer users.
The site was designed by Blue Cat Design (www.bluecatdesign.com), a Toronto area design firm specializing in Web site design and online publishing, that has been producing premier Web sites for an international list of clients since 1995. Their innovative designs have earned them three Canuck Site of the Day awards so far this year.
"An online magazine is a complex and involved undertaking", says Viewz Producer, Stewart Hall, "and the Blue Cat Design team were able to pull it all together. They were thoroughly professional, highly creative and technically adept. Their design of the site is already receiving rave reviews from our audience."
"The Viewz Web site was a creative and technical challenge because of its high level of interactivity," says Blue Cat Design's Creative Director and CEO, Christine Rowland, an award-winning designer with twenty years of graphic design experience including seven years as Art Director for the CTV Television Network, "About 75% of the site is generated on-the-fly through dynamic page generation from its custom database."
